why stop sex trafficking?

THE 12 YEAR OLD GIRL CLUTCHED ONTO HER LITTLE WOODEN DOLL, HER KNUCKLES TURNING WHITE AND HER BREATH TAKEN AWAY BY THE BRUTALITY OF A MAN WHO RAPED HER MERCILESSLY. A RIGHT HE HAD PURCHASED FOR LESS THAN THE PRICE OF A MEAL. AND THE DAY IS JUST BEGINNING FOR LITTLE REKHA.
The tragedy is, it happens daily. A thousand times over in one of the elite cities of Asia – Mumbai. Little girls like Rekha are stripped off their womanhood, tortured, beaten and raped in the recesses of Kamathipura, Mumbai. A place so dark and mired in sexual slavery even the pimps feel the cold shiver of brutality the girls have to endure. Over 700,000 women, from 8 year old innocent girls to 25 year old veterans are victims of sex trafficking worldwide. An industry with an estimated $200 billion in cash revenue. That’s a lot of little girls and women crying out. It’s time we did something. It’s time to stop sexual slavery.
WHY STOP SEX TRAFFICKING?
This has to stop because there won’t be any innocence left to salvage anymore. The dignity of women jeopardized by a society that turns its head away far too easily. This has to stop because sexual slavery will march on till it has ravaged every moral fibre of our society. And our nations. This has to stop it’s an affront to the rights of women all over the world. The right to live. The right to dignity. The right to dream like any other human. And the precious right to be free. This has to stop because everything we deem beautiful in life will ebb away into darkness. Rekha’s life was left in shreds at the tender age of 12 years. But there are a million little girls like her who have not seen the light of day and are waiting for the doors to open. And if we don’t show up, someone else will. Oh, what wouldn’t these beautiful little girls give to laugh and be loved again?
